Materials production centers

The development of a project of great extension such as the fortification of Cartagena de Indias during the Colonial period required an incalculable effort to obtain the materials required for these projects.

The quarries and lime ovens located along the coast and islands of Cartagena Bay formed part of the materials production centers, and the materials once prepared were transported over the bay in canoes. R4port4_E4
The operation of these manufacturing centers depended in large part on the labor of slaves.

Albornoz, Tierrabomba, Caño del Oro, Bocachica and Barú, were some of the sites where these production centers were located.
