The Bulwark of Santa Teresa formed part of the defensive system that protected the Media Luna Entrance together with the Bulwark of Santa Barbara. Constructed in 1631 by Francisco de Murga, it was located on the left side of the only entrance to Getsemaní by land. It suffered damage during the attack by French troops commanded by the Baron De Pointis and was restored by Juan de Herrera y Sotomayor in 1732, who created a rampart. Its most distinguishing characteristic is its curved flank, because of the tactical needs of the defensive system.
